New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study will host historian Juan Cole for a public lecture, “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Arab Spring,” on Wednesday, September 28, 5-7 p.m. at its Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Cole is Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan whose work provides a historical context for the relationship between the West and the Muslim world. His books include Engaging the Muslim World (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) and Napoleon’s Egypt: Invading the Middle East (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007). He has been a regular guest on PBS’s “NewsHour” and has also appeared on “Nightline”, “The Today Show”, “The Charlie Rose Show”, and “Anderson Cooper 360”, among other programs.
