Glucksman Ireland House at New York University will host bestselling novelists, emerging talents, and critical thinkers for a day-long exploration of the new wave of Irish crime fiction—its roots, its American connections, and its unique power to draw attention to issues of social change and unrest—on Saturday, September 24, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Glucksman Ireland House at New York University will host bestselling novelists, emerging talents, and critical thinkers for a day-long exploration of the new wave of Irish crime fiction—its roots, its American connections, and its unique power to draw attention to issues of social change and unrest—on Saturday, September 24, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at its 1 Washington Mews location (at 5th Avenue). The event will be followed by a reception and book signing (5:45 to 7:00 p.m.)

“Down These Green Streets” is part of “Imagine Ireland,” an initiative of Culture Ireland celebrating contemporary Irish arts in the U.S. in 2011.

The day’s panelists include:

·         Alex Barclay, author of the Joe Lucchesi mysteries Darkhouse and The Caller and FBI thrillers Blood Runs Cold and Time of Death

·         Colin Bateman, screenwriter and author of the Dan Starkey mysteries (Divorcing Jack), the Mystery Man novels, and The Gang With No Name books for children

·         Declan Burke, editor of the anthology Down These Green Streets: Irish Crime Writing in the 21st Century, and author of several crime novels, most recently Absolute Zero Cool
