GLOBAL Design NYU, a project that aims to transform architecture and urban design in ways that prioritize environmental concerns, will host a symposium on Friday, June 10, 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m., in the Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts at NYU’s Gallatin School for Individualized Study.

GLOBAL Design NYU, a New York University project that aims to transform architecture and urban design in ways that prioritize environmental concerns, will host a symposium on Friday, June 10, 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m., in the Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts at NYU’s Gallatin School for Individualized Study (1 Washington Place at Broadway). The symposium will include presentations by Bjarke Ingels and Architecture Research Office, among other internationally recognized architects, as well as leading theorists and historians, such as Graham Burnett, Mark Jarzombek, Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky), and Jeffrey Inaba. The event is being held in conjunction with the exhibit, “Elsewhere Envisioned,” the first of its kind at NYU.

GLOBAL Design NYU, which brings together designers, scholars, and innovators, showcases design research as it relates to visionary architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and ecological planning through exhibits and speaker series.

The project is headed by three Gallatin School faculty: Peder Anker, who authored the From Bauhaus to Eco-House: A History of Ecological Design, among other works; Louise Harpman, a principal in the architecture firm Specht Harpman, named one of New York City's Top 100 architects and designers by New York magazine; and Mitchell Joachim, co-founder of Planetary ONE and Terreform ONE, nonprofit organizations and design groups that integrate ecological principles in urban areas.
