NYU’s Global Liberal Studies Program, which was among the sponsors of the 2011 Global Classrooms® Model UN Conference, arranged for faculty and other speakers to participate in the conference on the topic of sustainable forestry and for its students to serve as communications staffers.

The UN has designated 2011 as the International Year of the Forest in order to raise awareness of sustainable management, conservation, and development of forests.
