Wisconsin in New York? Former NY Legislatore and Critic of Public-Employee Unions Will Go Toe-toToe on April 28

          The push to constrict collective bargaining and to reduce public employee costs in the State of Wisconsin touched off a storm of controversy with implications for state governments nationwide.

           What will this dramatic upheaval mean for the future New York State, with its similarly powerful public employee unions and perennial budget woes?

           Richard Brodsky, senior fellow at NYU Wagner who served as a New York legislator for many years, will debate the meaning of Wisconsin’s pitched battles over the rights and role of public-employee unions with Daniel DiSalvo, City College professor of political science and author of an influential 2010 article in National Affairs magazine, “The Trouble with Public Sector Unions.”

          The debate, sponsored by the Wagner school and Demos, begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 in the Nagle Auditorium, 6th Floor, NYU School of Dentistry, 24th Street and 1st Avenue, New York, N.Y. It will be moderated by NYU Wagner Professor of Public Policy Dennis Smith.
