Crocus species mix on Bleecker Street side of NYU Coles Sports Center

Here's another sign that spring is approaching: the various Crocus species are starting to flower alongside Coles Sports Center.  Most Crocus species like these at Coles bloom in late winter/early spring. Others like Crocus satiuvs, or Saffron Crocus (named for the spice produced from its red stigmas) bloom in fall.  When you see Crocus in flower you know that daffodils are not far behind, and tulips and Cherry trees soon after that. You can see the whole show come alive this spring along the Bleecker Street side of Coles! (Click for Map)
