NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science will host the Threesis Academic Challenge on Saturday, April 9, 3:30 p.m. at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. In the competition, master’s students present their thesis or final project to a panel of judges in layperson’s language in three minutes or less.

Scholarship in Sound Bites—GSAS to Host Three-Minute Thesis Competition, April 9

New York University’s Graduate School of Arts and Science will host the Threesis Academic Challenge on Saturday, April 9, 3:30 p.m. at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York University, 566 LaGuardia Place (at Washington Square South). In the competition, adopted from the Three Minute Thesis Challenge founded by the University of Queensland in Australia, master’s students present their thesis or final project to a panel of judges in layperson’s language in three minutes or less.

Competitors are judged on the following: how well they grasp the subject of their research, their ability to discuss the topic with non-experts, and presentation skills. Students compete for prizes totaling $2,500 while learning to organize ideas and speak about them persuasively in a fun, academic atmosphere.
