To: THE NYU COMMUNITY
From: William Berkley, Chair, NYU Presidential Search Committee

Having concluded the 27 scheduled "listening sessions" - which have been conducted not only in person in New York, but also at our campuses in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, as well as online and via teleconference - the Presidential Search Committee will use the guidance we received to start the next phase of our work: developing a profile that describes what we seek from and what we will look for in the 16th president of NYU, which we will share publicly. Using that set of criteria, we will then identify a pool of candidates and begin the confidential process of interviewing the best of them.

The Search Committee would like to thank the faculty, staff, administrators, students, and alumni who took the time to share with us their perspectives and advice; it was enormously helpful, and we appreciate that so many engaged with us. We are grateful as well for the 175 nominations of candidates that have come from the NYU community. We would ask that if any members of the NYU community wish to share with us additional thoughts or nominations that they please do so by the end of this week, November 7th.

I am also pleased to report an addition to the Search Committee: Ann Marie Mauro, who was recently elected chair of the Full-Time Non-Tenure Track / Contract Faculty Senators Council.

NYU is a great university, and there is no doubt that we will recruit an outstanding and talented person as its next president. We appreciate the NYU community's many contributions over the past couple of months in helping to ensure the success of this process.
