  DECEMBER 2014 ISSUE

This week a Nor'easter hit New York, bringing lots of wind, rain and cold -- great weather to be stuck indoors studying! The remaining days of the semester will find students hiding out in the library or lounges busily finishing up papers and projects, as well as studying for exams. This newsletter will provide you with information that will help you and your student plan for the end of the Fall semester, as well as the beginning of the Spring semester.

FINAL EXAMS and GRADES
The final exam period runs from December 15-19. Exams are scheduled by class day/time, however some professors may require a final paper or hold an exam on the last day of class instead. Be sure to double-check with your student regarding their schedule -- they may be finished early!

All final grades will be available on Albert (the NYU student information website) at the end of each term and as they are received from the instructor of the course or the academic department offering the course. Note that some grades may take longer to post due to the type of final exam and the winter break schedule. Questions about grades should be directed to your student's respective professor when the University opens in January. As a reminder, your student may grant you access through Albert.

NYU MEAL PLANS
Now is a good time to review current meal plan usage in anticipation of Spring meal plans. To help offset any leftover meals, students can donate up to three meal swipes and/or up to $90 in Dining Dollars to help feed hungry New Yorkers through City Harvest. Leftover meal swipes do not carry over into the Spring, however Dining Dollars will rollover. Also note that students can now begin enrolling for Spring 2014 Meal Plans. For students on campus in January, dining locations will be accepting cash, credit card, Campus Cash or Spring Dining Dollars.
For more information, visit www.nyu.edu/dining or call 212-998-3030.

HEALTH and WELLNESS INITIATIVES for Finals
To help students unwind while they wrap up the semester, the Health Promotion Office will host Fuel Your Finals from December 8-19, offering a free cereal breakfast and study kits for students.

Sending a Care Package? Be Sure to Include BRAIN FOOD....
Did you know our brain is the most energy consuming organ in the body? With finals approaching, students often turn to high caffeinated beverages and sugary foods to keep them studying long hours. To help prevent an energy crash associated with these types of foods, consider including these brain foods in your care packages instead: nuts, trail mix with dried fruit, fresh fruit, fruit and nut bars, whole grain granola bars, all-natural peanut butter, almond butter or sunflower butter, dark chocolate covered almonds, plain oatmeal packets with honey to sweeten it, water bottles. They'll have you to thank when they achieve their academic success!

S.P.A.C.E.
NYU provides prevention, awareness and confidential assistance to complainant students at the S.P.A.C.E. (Sexual misconduct Prevention, Assistance, Counseling and Education). Assistance includes accompanying a complainant to medical appointments at their request, connecting them with mental health care, providing information about resources and options, and/or attending campus meetings or proceedings with them. Staff at The S.P.A.C.E. – which includes Crisis Response Counselors at the Wellness Exchange – are licensed health professionals who can act as a student’s personal liaison throughout the process of accessing care and services following an incident of sexual misconduct. The S.P.A.C.E. is located on the fourth floor of the Student Health Center at 726 Broadway. Call 212-443-9999 or visit www.nyu.edu/sexual-respect for more information.
