The backfill of clean soil into the remediation site is now complete. A drill rig is scheduled to arrive on site tomorrow to install wells for the soil vapor extraction unit (SVE) at the remediation site. The process of creating channels for the piping system necessary will require the use of a jackhammer.

Beginning either Friday, February 18, 2011, or Tuesday, February 22, 2011, work crews will be breaking up and removing the concrete pad that previously supported the now-removed oil tank. The demolition and removal of this pad will require the use of a jackhammer, and will be especially noisy for the duration of the scheduled 1-2 day removal.
We apologize for any disruption this may cause, and we will be especially thorough in making sure this work does not begin before 9AM.

The results of the first two weeks of CAMP (Community Air Monitoring Program) air samples are now available. Particulates and total volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are being monitored. This monitoring is intended to provide a measure of protection for those who are not directly involved with the work activities from potential airborne contaminants that are released as a result of remedial work activities.
Should action levels be exceeded, the area and work is evaluated and adjusted as necessary. If necessary, dust suppression techniques will be implemented.
The action level changes day to day depending on the daily background samples. There were a few action level exceedances (numbers in BOLD). There are footnotes explaining these.
