The NYU Construction website is a joint effort by the Office of Government and Community Affairs and the Office of Facilities and Construction Management.
Welcome to New York University's Construction Website. Here you will find useful information about the University's construction projects, announcements, renderings, and answers to frequently asked questions.
The Community Task Force on NYU Development convened by Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer developed a set of planning principles to help guide NYU Plans 2031, a community-based strategic space planning initiative. As outlined in the planning principles, this site was created to keep our neighbors up to date on current projects. Furthermore, the University will continue to work with our neighbors to mitigate effects of construction.

NYU and the Archdiocese of New York have completed the long-discussed sale of the site of the former NYU Catholic Center. The site, on Washington Square South and Thompson Street, will be home to NYU's Center for Academic and Spiritual Life, which will include spaces for religious observance, offices for NYU's Chaplains' Circle, classes, music rehearsals, and conferences, and will include space for an ongoing Catholic presence.
As part of NYU's development along the 1st Avenue Health Corridor, the University plans to redevelop the current sites at 433 1st Ave (Basic Science Building) and 339 East 25th Street (Guggenheim Building). Once abated and properly prepared, the existing structures will be completely demolished in order to construct a new facility that will house the University's Nursing and Dental Schools.
Presently residential homes, this renovation will convert the interiors of buildings 14A and 7&8 Washington Mews from residential into full academic use. 7&8 Washington Mews will be converted internally into one building as the new home of academic units for the Asian, Pacific, and American Studies, the China House. 14A will have the Institute for African American Affairs and well as the Africa House.
Local Law 11 work is mandated by the City of New York and requires all buildings six floors or higher to be inspected and repaired on a regularly scheduled basis. For a list of Local Law 11 projects, please click here.
