New York University is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of the University environment. In its ongoing effort to ensure excellence in all of its activities, the University has instituted the NYU Compliance Line as an additional method for reporting violations of University policy, compliance concerns or improper conduct.
NYU has established policies and procedures for addressing concerns of the University community and encourages its faculty and staff to use these avenues to resolve their concerns whenever possible. The NYU Compliance Line provides a supplementary reporting channel where an individual is unwilling or unable to use the internal resources available, including instances where he or she wishes to remain anonymous.
Individuals may report financial and business integrity issues, misuse of University property or assets, health, safety or environmental matters, research or academic issues, conflicts of interest, or ethics matters via the Compliance Line. The NYU Compliance Line, however, should not be used to report anonymously discrimination or harassment issues as they cannot be appropriately investigated and addressed unless the individual making the complaint comes forward. Discrimination and harassment matters should be reported using the existing channels and procedures developed specifically to address them, i.e., through the Office of Equal Opportunity or using the NYU Anti-Harassment Policy and Complaint Procedures.
Reports submitted via the Compliance Line will be forwarded to the University Compliance Officer for review and investigation in a timely manner. All reports will be handled by the appropriate University officials as promptly and discreetly as possible. The University will maintain the confidentiality and/or anonymity of individuals who report in good faith, consistent with the law and the conduct of a thorough and complete investigation. The University will take every step necessary to protect anyone who reports in good faith against retaliatory action.
