New York University is committed to the highest standards of conduct in all aspects of the University environment. The mission of the University-wide Office of Compliance is to serve the University community by helping to identify and implement "Best Practices," so that the University's goal of excellence in education and research may be more easily and effectively achieved. The Office of Compliance also seeks to protect the University's assets and sources of income so that valuable resources may be most effectively preserved and utilized.
The Office of Compliance seeks to:
- Help Identify and Implement "Best Practices" to ensure excellence in fulfilling NYU's legal, ethical and regulatory obligations
- Educate and Train the University Community
- Monitor Compliance with Best Practice Standards
- Help Address Deficiencies
The Office of Compliance also seeks to protect University Income and Assets by:
- Avoiding Financial Theft/Waste/Harm
- Avoiding Government fines or damages for violating law
- Avoiding the delay or denial of funding because the University has not properly complied with legal or contractual prerequisites to receiving funding.
Occasionally, members of the NYU community have questions or concerns regarding ethics, compliance or best business practices. We encourage you to contact the Office of Compliance with these questions or concerns. NYU has also established the NYU Compliance Line, which provides a supplementary reporting channel where an individual who is unwilling or unable to use the internal resources available, including instances where he or she wishes to remain anonymous. Individuals may report financial and business integrity issues, misuse of University property or assets, health, safety or environmental matters, research or academic issues, conflicts of interest, or ethics matters via the NYU Compliance Line.
