Parents Day

Saturday,  November 8, 2014

On behalf of New York University, Parent Resources at the Student Resource Center is pleased to invite the parents of new freshmen and transfer students, as well as our parents of students transitioning from abroad sites, to Parents Day.

A detailed schedule and registration will be posted in late September, however a sample schedule of the day is provided on the right side of this page.

We understand that your visit is also great opportunity to spend time with your son or daughter and to explore the city. If you prefer, we also invite you to make the day your own, participating in what your schedule will allow.

Parents Day

The schedule below is meant to provide you with a basic timeline for the day.  Not all programs will last the entire time allotted.  A final schedule will be available in late September prior to the opening of registration.

  • REGISTRATION (begins at 9am)
Each school or program at NYU hosts a morning academic program which may feature a Welcome from the academic dean, faculty, students and even alumni. Some programs provide breakout sessions by academic department or even an opportunity to attend a class. Parents Day does not include opportunities to meet with your student's professors. The morning program is for parents only due to space constraints.
  • The morning program is also complemented by a Sibling Breakfast for students with younger siblings and includes a continental breakfast, board games, and movies.
A number of workshops are offered in the afternoon and include such topics as the sophomore residential experience, health and wellness, study abroad, commuter life, the freshman year experience, library services, and off campus living. A number of offices will also host open houses. All workshops are open to students and parents.
Hosted by President John Sexton and the NYU Parents Council
  • EVENING PROGRAMS (after 6pm)
The evening is on your own, however a number of student performances may also be available on campus.
Parents Day is also Alumni Day and a number of workshops will be made available to parents, including a talk by President John Sexton, and an outdoor Street Fair.
