Program Description

The NYU Community Fund Internship Program is a semester long non-credited, non-paid internship program in partnership with nonprofit organizations in Lower Manhattan that have received funding through the NYU Community Fund. The NYU Community Fund is the university's workplace charitable giving program, currently celebrating its 26th year of providing support to small and medium sized nonprofit organizations. The program has a mandatory requirement of one full semester of volunteer work, followed by the opportunity to continue work in additional semesters. Admission into the program is available in Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.

Organization Requirements

The organization will provide a meaningful internship program in which interns will volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per week during an academic semester. Agencies will keep track of their intern's hours by having a sign in sheet at the internship location. Intern hours should not exceed 10 hours per week. The Agency will appoint one or more Agency Supervisors who will coordinate the intern's daily tasks, provide guidance and feedback, as well as encourage learning & professional development throughout the semester. Agencies must have a clear description of the work the interns will be participating in and what skills they will obtain within the organization. Agencies will complete an Agency Exit Evaluation once the internship has been completed.
