Program Description
The NYU Community Fund Internship Program is a semester long non-credited, non-paid internship program in partnership with nonprofit organizations in Lower Manhattan that have received funding through the NYU Community Fund. The NYU Community Fund is the university's workplace charitable giving program, currently celebrating its 26th year of providing support to small and medium sized nonprofit organizations.
The program has a mandatory requirement of one full semester of volunteer work, followed by the opportunity to continue work in additional semesters. Admission into the program is available in Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
Internship Requirements
Applicants must be full-time students at New York University and must be in good standing with the university. Applicants must hold a 3.0 GPA or higher and receive prior approval from their Academic Advisor to participate in the program. Applicants must be able to provide 4 hours of volunteer work a week, for ten consecutive weeks. Interns will keep track of their hours by having a sign in sheet at their internship location. Interns will report to one or more Agency Supervisors who will coordinate the student's daily tasks, as well as encourage learning & professional development. Interns will perform tasks that are meaningful and related to the position proposed by the participating nonprofit organization. This internship is 100% voluntary and is meant to allow students to explore possible career choices. Interns will complete an Intern Exit Evaluation once their internship has been completed. In addition, a letter of recommendation must be provided from an NYU faculty member or from a member of an organization where previous volunteer work has been completed.
