Commemorating Commencement I
All students attending the ceremony in Yankee Stadium will receive a free DVD of NYU's 176th Commencement. The DVD will be sent to your home over the summer. Please remember: videotaping is prohibited in Yankee Stadium, and you cannot enter Yankee Stadium with a video camera in your possession.
Commemorating Commencement II
To mark the first, last, and only college commencement believed to have taken place in Yankee Stadium, all graduating students attending the ceremony and the first 10,000 guests will receive a commemorative baseball cap marking the occasion.
Send-off Breakfast
As a congratulatory send-off on Commencement morning, the University will provide a free continental breakfast from 8:00 am - 9:00 am to graduates and their families at two residence hall locations near subway hubs that can take you to Yankee Stadium (a trip of approximately 25 minutes) - at University Hall, 110 East 14th St, near the Union Square subway stop (from which you can take the "4" train) and at the Water St. Residence Hall, 200 Water St., near the Fulton St. subway stop (from which you can take the "4" train).
Get ready for the All-University Commencement Exercises on Wednesday morning, May 14th, by following these easy steps...
We are also delighted to be able to share with you a special New York City tribute to NYU's graduating class: the evening of Grad Alley, as in years past, the world's most famous office building -- the Empire State Building -- will be illuminated in purple and white in your honor. As you leave Grad Alley following the fireworks, be sure to look uptown to view the Empire State Building and this demonstration of New York's pride in you and NYU.
2008 Yankee Stadium Commencement Trivia
When Barry Bonds won the MVP award in baseball in 1991 and 1992, it was the 10th time in the history of baseball that a player had won the MVP award in back to back years. The epiphany — the miraculous reality that reveals the transcendent greatness of baseball is that if you construct the list of the nine players who accomplished the feat before Bonds, you would have one player from each of the nine positions on a baseball team (that is, of the previously nine players, there was one pitcher, one catcher, one first baseman and so on).
