Experience
before Wagner: |
I grew up in Cleveland, OH, went to the University of Notre Dame, and moved to San Francisco after graduation to do a year of service work with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC). As a JV, I ran an after-school program in the Mission neighborhood and increased my involvement in social justice work. I spent two more years in the Bay Area working in the Tenderloin neighborhood for a social service nonprofit called St. Anthony Foundation. As hard as it was to leave the West Coast, I was pretty stoked to ride Amtrak cross-country and settle in NYC for grad school at Wagner. During my first year, I worked part-time at community development nonprofit in Harlem and spent the summer serving as a Paid Fellow at the Policy Institute of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. |
