To apply for space in the Clubs directory on the NYU Web server (http://www.nyu.edu/clubs/), please speak to a representative from the OSA or write to osa.webmaster@nyu.edu
As an NYU Club Webmaster, you are responsible for the content that appears on your web site. Please review NYU's World Wide Web Policies and Procedures for All New York University Computer and Network Users before you get started.
In addition, please familiarize yourself with the Policy on Responsible Use of NYU Computers & Data, and the Responsibilities of All NYU Computer & Network Users policy, especially the item:
"I understand that computer accounts are for sole use by the account owner, and I will not share my account with other individuals or use an account assigned to another individual."
Sharing of your account access is forbidden.
Be aware that www.nyu.edu is a publicly accessible server. You must consider any data file stored there to be generally available. As search engine technology has become more sophisticated, there may be no such thing as a "hidden" directory or file. Data files should NOT be stored on the webserver.
If you are a new webmaster taking over a site that has existing content, you must review the content as per the Site Review Information instructions.
As you develop content for your site (or review existing content created by a previous webmaster), keep in mind that the webserver is for production content only. Therefore, you should not store archival materials on the server. For example, backup files or directories and/or archive files (.zip, .sit) should not be housed in your web directory. You should also remove any executable files (.exe), program installers, and program files (cgi scripts, PHP files or programs. Note: Club webmasters do not have permission to run cgi scripts).
NYU is a nonprofit educational institution and the use of its facilities, including computer facilities, is limited to the educational and other nonprofit purposes of its students, faculty and eligible staff. Accordingly, Web pages may be created and posted only for the educational and research purposes of the NYU community. No person may include in a Web page any advertising materials or other materials relating to business or commercial activities of such person or any third person. The content of any Web page and its compliance with applicable policy and law is the sole responsibility of the author.
Your access can be suspended and disciplinary action will be taken if you use your club web site for commercial purposes.
If you haven't already created your site, you might want to take a look at other student organization's web pages for ideas. View the Office of Student Activities' Club Web Directory at http://www.osa.nyu.edu/club_directory.html.
If you have any questions or comments about this website or the content herein, please contact the OSA Webmaster at osa.webmaster@nyu.edu
