Joe Gilpin Jr

President

From a young age, Joe has always been a competitor. He's always had a competitive nature that led him to starring roles on athletic teams. Track and Field brought out the true competitive nature within him and he has been able to transfer his track and field work ethics and lessons to his professional and business life. With a degree in fine arts from St. John’s University, Joe has had over 7 years of professional experience in the field of graphic and web design. His knowledge and execution of graphic applications is extensive to say the least. Now, with additional knowledge of digital media, epubs, qr codes,marketing and business operations, Joe has evolved into a well-rounded professional, suitable for any lead design, production, web, or marketing team. Through the years Joe has freelanced and worked for an assortment of companies with an immense range of projects with respect to print design, advertising design, fashion design, magazine/newspaper design and web design. These accounts afforded him the opportunity to work with everything from food and beverage, film and television, to music and finance. With his continuing education in graphic communications management and technology at NYU, he's been able to broaden his horizons. His graduate experience will also help launch his aspirations for his own design/branding and digital firm “Create Solutionz.” His experience working with diverse clientele and exceeding their expectations using creative solutions in fulfilling their objectives and his attention to detail has been a corner stone in his professional career. His competitive nature, willingness to listen, thirst for knowledge and tireless work ethic makes him an ideal leader. Joe’s humble attitude pleasant personality and lovable sense of humor, help to complete his persona as overall well rounded individual.

Eunic Ortiz

Vice President

Eunic Ortiz is a Senior Account Executive at Fleishman-Hillard in New York City. In this role, she develops online, digital, video and social media strategy, campaigns and execution for clients. Before joining Fleishman-Hillard, Eunic was the Web, Digital and Social Media Manager as well as a Spokesperson to the New York City Council. Within six months of starting at the Council, she brought the City agency to the forefront of Web 3.0 adding vast multimedia applications to http://council.nyc.gov. Soon after, she started their social media profiles including Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Scribd, LinkedIn and FourSquare. Eunic is currently a graduate student at New York University pursuing her Master of Arts in Graphic Communication Management and Technology. During her studies, Eunic will learn corporate management skills as well as the latest in digital and online technology and communications. Studying part time, she plans to complete the program in 2012.

Dana Morgan

Webmaster

Dana Morgan is originally from Israel. She has been living in New York for four years, and is a third year student in the program. Dana is a software engineer and has worked in numerous companies and startups in New York, Boston and Tel Aviv. Currently she is a consultant, developing web and mobile applications for various startup companies in New York City. She recently founded The Melody Book, a startup selling iPhone/iPad apps offering an archive of sheet music for popular classical tunes along with search features and file-sharing capabilities. With one app, users can quickly search through an entire database of sheet music for piano, flute, guitar, violin, voice, clarinet and orchestra by name, year, composer or the first few notes in a piece's theme. Her interests in photography, graphic design, art and music come together nicely in her work. Dana is always looking to combine design and technology.

Tina Powell

Student Council Representative

This September marks the start of Tina’s 4th year at New York University as a part-time student. She resides and works in Bergen County, New Jersey and is employed full time as Director of Business Management and Managing Member for Beacon Wealth Management, a registered investment boutique advisory firm specializing in financial planning, investment and portfolio management, tax and retirement planning. At Beacon she is responsible for corporate communications, marketing, client/prospect/vendor relations, events, and business development. Tina is also currently a member of Toastmaster’s International, New York City Advertising & Production Club, and a volunteer mentor for Fairleigh Dickinson University where she earned a B.S. with honors in Business Management. She is also proud mother of Rachel – a senior at the University of Delaware and Dave – a sophomore at Towson University. She loves great restaurants, NYC Theater, discovering new places, walking and exploring with her yellow lab Mookie, and learning to play golf.

Corbin Nakamura

Treasurer

Corbin is from San Diego California. He attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and earned a B.S. degree in Graphic Communication. He is a current candidate at NYU's graphic communication management and technology program and works with several freelance clients in NYC.

Katie Lorenz Beard

Secretary

Katie Lorenz Beard is in her final year as a Graphic Communications Management and Technology student. She has a professional background in Marketing Communications and Filmmaking (specifically documentary, events and promotion). In her free time, Katie enjoys traveling, painting, waterskiing and photography.

    The Graphic Communications Management Association exists to provide its members with events, resources and opportunities in addition to what is provided through the general curriculum.

    This website is an extension of these provisions. It contains information on activities and other pertinent information useful to club members.
