Gil Shefer, President
Gil Shefer was born in Israel and moved to the United States at age three. After graduating from East Brunswick High School, Gil became an Economics major at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, where he is currently a Senior. On campus, he has been actively involved with the Undergraduate Law Society, serving as Operations Chair and Vice President in previous years. Gil also has a passion for human rights issues and genocide awareness, which led him to Co-Chair the Selma Ruben Distinguished Lecture Series on Social Activism in 2008. Gil has also worked for NYU School of Law's Center on Law and Security, where he served as researcher and intern for the past two years, attending their Conference on Global Terrorism in Florence, Italy during the Summer of 2009. In his spare time, Gil volunteers with the GO Project, mentoring inner city children and providing them extra support in reading, writing and math. Gil enjoys going to the gym, playing tennis, and is an avid reader of history. Upon graduation, Gil aims to pursue a career in national security law with a particular emphasis on human rights. Frannie Demapan, Co-President
Frannie was born and raised on the tiny island of Saipan (google it), but she attended high school in Hawaii. She is a Senior in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in English and American Literature. After graduating, she plans on working for a year before attending law school on the West Coast. When she's not in class, she's working at Palladium where she's paid to watch people lift weights, working on NYU's West 10th Editorial Board, or playing intramural volleyball at Coles. She is very passionate about health issues and plans to pursue a career in health law. In her free time, she loves to work out, eat Asian food, and watch Gossip Girls.

Kevin Joon Tai Kim, Treasurer
Kevin was born in Seoul, South Korea, but has since lived a live of a nomad. He lived in 4 different countries and varies cities, such as Philadelphia, Shanghai, Florence and now NEW YORK. He is currently a Political Science Major and Chinese Language Minor. Upon graduating next spring, 2010, he plans to take a year off and pursue a job in the field of international law/politics. After some work-experience he plans to jump back into his life's plan of becoming a lawyer and plans to attend a law school in the east coast. He is very passionate about reading, especially fiction novels. One of his favorite authors is John Grisham, who actually did motivate Kevin to pursue a life as a lawyer, to some degree. He, also, loves playing, watching and talking about soccer aka football. You may find him not that friendly if you are a Real Madrid fan. Regardless of that fact, which he was just making a joke, he is really a laid back guy, who loves to listen and talk to anyone about mostly everything.
Nicole Silverstein, Secretary
Born in Long Island, NY, Nicole is currently a Senior in the College of Arts & Sciences, majoring in Politics with minors in History and Social Work. Upon graduation in December 2009, she plans to pursue a JD-MSW joint degree, aiming towards a career in juvenile justice. Currently, she works part-time at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law while volunteering as a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC-Juvenile Justice Special Populations Department as well as a volunteer tutor for the Ascension Tutoring Program. She is a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority and the NYU College Republicans.
Felipe Ford Cole, Webmaster and Communications
Pictured next to rapper Redman. Felipe was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and raised in Weston, Florida with a brief stint in Mexico City, Mexico. He is currently a Junior in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in History with minors in Law & Society and American Studies. He plans to pursue a career in international and human rights law. He is currently interning at Amnesty International and keeps a part time job as a web communications and development specialist for an investment firm in his beloved South Florida. He is part of the Student Senators Council and chairs the University Committee on Student Life's Public Relations Committee and sits on the All-Square Student Budget Allocation Committee. He also serves as the webmaster for NYU College Bowl and is a member of the NYU College Democrats.
Alice Cheng, Co-Publicity Chair
Alice is currently finishing up her final year as a Senior in NYU's Silver School of Social Work. She is double majoring in social work and psychology, and minoring in Law & Society. Her loves in life include eating, cooking, adventuring, and her dog Nyla. And, although she loves NYC, her heart remains in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she was born and raised.
Christina Chen, Co-Publicity Chair
Born in Brooklyn, this native New Yorker is currently a Sophomore and a member of the Dean’s Circle in the Liberal Studies Program. Her tentative major is history and politics, and she plans to attend law school. Currently, she works part-time at the N.Y.U. School of Law. Her interests include reading poetry, shopping, dining at new restaurants, and traveling. She loves cheese, ice cream, and peach iced tea. She is a virgo, is very ticklish, and loves ee cummings and Billy Collins. She is interested in the events of World War II, and is extremely excited to go to Berlin this January.
Brian Koenen, Co-Operations Chair
A product of America's Dairyland, Brian Koenen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Brian was not raised on a farm. He is currently a Freshman at the College of Arts & Sciences and is pursuing a degree in Politics and Economics. His long term goals include attending law school, living in New York City, and becoming Ari Gold from Entourage. Wes Anderson films, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Wall-E are some of his favorite movies. On the weekends you can find him walking on the Highline, eating crepes at The Creperie on MacDougal, or explaining where Wisconsin is to people he meets.
Tania Nguyen, Co-Operations Chair
Tania is a senior at the College of Arts & Science where she is completing an honors major in politics and a double minor in economics and prebusiness studies. Tania is also a student of the Alexander Hamilton Center for Political Economy at NYU. Tania is currently employed at Queller, Fisher, Washor, Fuchs & Kool LLP, a personal injury law firm, as a legal intern and at NYU Law as a freelance writer for The Law School Magazine. On the weekends, Tania volunteers with the High School Law Institute where she teaches introductory topics in law to high school students. Tania is planning on applying to law school this fall, where she will pursue a J.D./M.B.A joint degree. She is originally from Vermont.
Lisa Totino, Liaison
Lisa Totino was born and raised in Massapequa, New York. She is a Sophomore and intends to major in Politics, with a specific focus in International studies. Staying active keeps her on her toes all day long; she has competed in hundreds of running races—ranging between 5Ks to half-marathons. Before graduating, she would love to complete a half-ironman and full marathon. She is also a huge G-Men and Yankees fan. When she’s not involved in or rooting on sporting events, she enjoys settling down to a good TV show (Seinfeld, Friends, House) or movie (Top Gun, Love Actually, Braveheart) with her two favorite men, Ben and Jerry. She has a passion for cooking, although she admits that her mother’s Italian dishes will always put her to shame. Lisa aspires to become an attorney, and learn from paths of her two older sisters, who are currently employed in prestigious NYC law firms. She thinks E.E. Cummings put it best: “The most wasted of days are those without laughter.”
Tian Gai, Liaison
Tian grew up in Shanghai, China. He is currently a junior at the College of Arts & Sciences, double majoring in Economics and Philosophy, with a minor in Mathematics. In his off time, Tian likes drawing and watercolor painting, chinese calligraphy, films and philosophy. Tian's favorite director is Ingmar Bergman. Among his favorite philosophers, he counts Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and Kant.
