Glucksman Ireland House

New York University Ireland House Student Association


Purpose
The purpose of the Ireland House Student Association (IHSA) is to provide students at New York University with a cultural resource in regards to Irish Studies, including Irish History, Irish-American History, and Irish culture.


Eligibility
Any student that is registered for classes at the University (part-time or full-time) may participate.


Officers
There shall be a president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary that will manage the budget and administrative affairs of the team.

The President is responsible to:
Serve as the team representative in dealing with the University, the Glucksman Ireland House, the club members, and other cultural clubs.
To preside over all meetings of the IHSA and all meetings of the IHSA officers

The Vice-President is responsible to assist the President. In the absence of the President, the Vice-President will oversee the duties of the President.

The Secretary is responsible for the following duties:
Keeping minutes from club meetings.
Maintaining contact information for club officers.

The Treasurer is responsible for the following duties:
Submitting a budget to ASSBAC.
Payment of club expenses in a timely manner.


Committees
There shall be committees for Correspondence, Publicity and Social Activities, that shall be headed by Chairpersons.

The Correspondence Committee is responsible to:
Inform members of all club events via e-mail, listserv, and/or website
Publishing club minutes to the club website.

The Publicity Committee is responsible to:
Advertise club events and relevant related events to the campus community.

The Social Activities Committee is responsible to:
Organize and/or arrange social activities outside of ASSBAC-funded club events, such as outings to relevant sporting events, concerts or traditional Irish music sessions, and theatre.


Elections
An annual election will be held for positions of Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice-President. The previous Vice-President should assume the duties of the President for the subsequent year unless the individual is no longer a member of the club or the membership believes this transition would not be in the best interest of the club.

The terms of the elected officers will begin at the beginning of the upcoming Fall Semester.

In order to be elected an officer, the person needs to be a member in good standing with the club. Persons seeking office in the club must be nominated by at least one other member of the club. And receive a simple majority of the votes cast for that position during the elections by members in good standing.


Impeachment
Officers of the club may be impeached by a nomination from a member in good standing and a vote by at least 90% of the members in good standing.

Upon impeachment, said officer will immediately be relieved of his duties as an officer of the club.

The remaining officers of the club will choose a replacement for the impeached officer from among the active team members by a unanimous decision. The replacement officer will assume the duties of the impeached officer for the remainder of the impeached officer's term.


Practices and Meetings
The IHSA will hold meetings in accordance with the schedule of Ireland House, with at least one meeting per month.
