A little note about the logo...

Originally designed by Charade Woo, the chameleon is the mascot and logo of GenerAsian@NYU. Like a chameleon's coat that changes colors and adapts to many varying environments, the Asian American student also epitomoizes the fusion of traditional Asian culture and modern American culture. This year we explore the greater appearance of modern Asian culture in what has been traditional American culture. Thus the sun in which the chameleon is cut out from symbolizes this birth of new identity.

Dear Readers,

Every April, APIA college students come together around the country to celebrate the collegiate Asian Heritage Month (the real one is in May). The purpose of Asian Heritage Month is not only to celebrate our heritage, our history, and our diversity, but also to look to the future. In that spirit, the theme of this issue of GenerAsian is Asian Sexuality: Breasts, Sex and Dating. We are heedful of our heritage by not forgetting the plight of our sisters in Asia. We look to our history by discussing the Asian stereotypes that Asians have been subject to at one time or another, and still may be. We look to our present to spread awareness of the issues facing APIA's today regarding their perceived sexuality or lack thereof, their lifestyles and the realities of being an APIA from our point of view, after all, it's not like we never date or have sex.

In addition, as we, the GenerAsian staff look to the future, we would like to thank those of our staff who are leaving this year. We would like to thank Evelyn and Xian, the cofounders of GenerAsian for their continuous support throughout the years, their hard work and for getting this publication started in the first place. You've been an inspiration to us all. We would also like to thank our Layout Editor, Angela for all her hard work and those hours spent in the computer lab putting our beautiful print issues together. We would also like to thank Kelvin for all his hard work getting our website up, laying out our issues on the web, and archiving all our old issues. We also want to thank Charade and Jeremiah, supporters from the start, for handling our business, without you guys, we would not be able to get these issues out and distributed. Last but not least, we will definitely miss our dear columnist, Douglas Choi, who has contributed to almost every issue and whose wit and frank comments have made for great reads. We thank all of our graduating staff and hope all of you enjoy great success in life.
