A little note about the logo...

Originally designed by Charade Woo, the chameleon is the mascot and logo of GenerAsian@NYU. Like a chameleon's coat that changes colors and adapts to many varying environments, the Asian American student also epitomoizes the fusion of traditional Asian culture and modern American culture. This year we explore the greater appearance of modern Asian culture in what has been traditional American culture. Thus the sun in which the chameleon is cut out from symbolizes this birth of new identity.

GenerAsian is a non-profit student publication of New York University, founded in December 1999, in part with Asian Initiative, the leading community service club at NYU. The premiere issue of GenerAsian had a circulation of 5,000 copies that were distributed free of charge, targeting primarily, but not exclusively, the Asian American student population at NYU. Those prevalent topics and concerns discussed fleetingly and divisively across campus find a concrete home on the pages of GenerAsian.

Our Mission

  1. To serve as a common outlet of expression for the many different Asian student organizations on campus and beyond.
  2. To be the most comprehensive, resourceful, and creative Asian American publication geared towards informing students about affairs on and off campus.
  3. To unify the diverse Asian American students by providing a forum to address the prevalent social, cultural and political issues facing today's generation as well as providing the inside scoop on the latest cultural trend.

GenerAsian is the only publication geared towards serving the NYU Asian American student community-we seek to amplify the voice of the modern generation. With the combined help and support of the greater Asian American community, GenerAsian strives to be the voice of the new generation.
