Spirited
Away
by
Michael Su, Special Contributor and Joanna
K. Lui, Editor-In-Chief
Currently
playing in theatres is the highest grossing
movie of all time in Japan, which just so
happens to be an animé. Before arriving on
our shores, this film has been critically
acclaimed internationally as a masterpiece
of animation. Upon arriving in America, it
was also praised by almost every reviewer.
So why haven't you seen trailers or commercials
for this film? It's currently in limited release
because nobody seems to believe it will succeed
in America, even Disney, the company responsibly
for bringing this movie to America. What is
this movie you ask?

Drum Song
by
Rebecca Wong, Special Contributor
Flower
Drum Song is the latest must-see musical of
the season for numerous reasons, one of which
is obvious - Lea Salonga. Her strong, mesmerizing
voice captured my attention from the very
beginning with the theme song, "A Hundred
Million Miracles," and I was held a willing
prisoner until the performance ended with
the singing of this song again. [more]

Last
week, I was craving some Indian food so my
friend and I decided to check out 6th street
between 1st and 2nd Avenues. If you've been
down this street, you know how aggressive
the restaurant staff can be when luring you
to eat at their restaurant. Since the entire
street is one Indian restaurant after the
other, there's tons of competition. After
passing by the first few places, we stopped
at this particular one because of the lunch
special. For $4.95, you get a soup, an appetizer,
soda, a main course, rice, nan bread, thin
unleavened bread for dipping, some random
cabbage, and a coconut pudding for dessert.
Whew! It sounds like a lot, right? Well it
is! I was completely stuffed and didn't even
finish everything. [more] |

opened, is completely devoted to soy products.

Poke
Restaurant
by
Charlene Kwan, Food Critic
It's
not surprising that Japanese cuisine has become
so popular in New York. With everything from
sweetly glazed eel sprinkled with sesame seeds
to lightly fried tempura to steaming bowls
of udon noodles, it's a small wonder that
so many Japanese restaurants have sprung up
to cater to New York tastes. [more]
