The Birth of Asian clubs and organizations on other college campuses...

This year a number of Asian/Asian-American student organizations have sprung up on various college campuses. At Mt. Holyoke College, the first Chinese Student Association (CSA) was founded earlier this year. With the addition of CSA, Mt. Holyoke is now a home of 24 cultural clubs.

A group of students at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, also just recently put out the first issue of Main St. a publication that serves to represent the Asian voice on a campus where Asians make up 10% of the student population.

Johns Hopkins University will also be home of HA Magazine, an Asian-American student publication due to publish next year...

I don't think the fear actually settled in until a past ITASA chairperson pulled me aside and said endearingly, "Don't worry, Dorothy! When I chaired Yale's ITASA conference, all I got was a stomach ulcer! But I'm sure you'll do fine."

Yup, that is me: the almighty and fearless leader of the upcoming ITASA 2001 - Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association - conference at UPenn. The fearless leader with what was formerly a blank space under the heading of "Past Leadership Experience." [more]
