FAQs

Do I have to be a member to come to meetings?

No, anyone can, and is encouraged, to come and join in with the fun! If you come to the meetings and help out then you are a member! There is no initiation or anything like that.

I can't make the meetings. How do I help out?

We are always working on at least one project. If you can't get to a meeting, send us an email. Look over the meetings page and the events page to see what you might be interested in! A great way to get informed is to join the Earth Matters listserve, which you can join on NYUHome. And remember to bookmark this page!

What is EM's relationship with Earth Week?

Earth Week is an official Office of Student Activities theme week. Earth Matters members always have a large part in the planning and executing of Earth Week, but it is not actually part of Earth Matters. Earth Week has a separate budget, elects its own board, and creates its own programming.

What is the official status of Earth Matters, and how are you funded?

EM is an All-Square club funded by the All-Square Student Budget Allocation Committee (ASSBAC). We are different from school clubs in that we involve students in all different schools including grad and undergrad, CAS, Gallatin, Stern, and Steinhardt.

Who have you worked with in the past?

We've worked with Rainforest Action Network, Times Up, NYU Recycling, SEAL, OXFam, Freecycle NYC, Per Scholas Recycling, Sierra Club.
