WELCOME to NYU CHINESE STUDENT SOCIETY.

Our Objective

The main focus and objective of CSS is to promote Asian heritage (in particular Chinese heritage), Asian- American ideals, and interactions among all ethnic backgrounds among our NYU community. CSS has been bringing people together for over 55 years to promote Asian heritage and ideals, while embracing the exchange with other cultural backgrounds. By creating an atmosphere that promotes social interaction, CSS acts as a vehicle to bring together unique people with similar interests. CSS encourages people of all ethnic backgrounds who are interested in Asian American heritage to become a CSS member.

Our Members

Members of the Chinese Student Society can be described as an accurate cross-section of the population at NYU. Not only is there a focus on the social side of student life, but on academics as well. In the past, we've held great parties at such clubs as Limelight, Tunnel, and System, to name a few. Likewise, cultural awareness has been a big part of CSS. Perhaps the most notable of our cultural activities is our annual talent/fashion show entitled Expo. In the months leading up to Expo, students from a variety of backgrounds and with diverse interests come together to put together a truly impressive performance including song, dance, and art. In this annual tradition, CSS gives back to the community, as all proceeds from the show go to a worthy local charity. However, this is not to say that the Chinese Student Society neglects to address the most important part of college, academics. Unlike many other organizations on campus, CSS presents you with ways to prepare yourself for life after college. We sponsor the Professional Development Program (PDP), where Asian American professionals come to CSS meetings and answer questions about the working world and life after college.

Our differences

What distinguishes the Chinese Student Society from other clubs at NYU is the notion that we are a family -- the friends you make as a member are the ones you'll carry with you over the years. There are no strangers here, only friends we have not yet met. We seek to create lasting relationships that we will bring with us into the future.
