7 and 9pm // Behind the Mask Film Screening
Behind the Mask is a controversial documentary that focuses on the Animal
Liberation Front (ALF), direct action, and the current repressive
governments to which activists are subject. Director Shannon Keith, an
animal rights lawyer, is now under surveillance by the FBI. Using
undercover and underground video shot by the participants, "Behind the
Mask" reveals the world of those who choose to break the law in the
struggle for the liberation and freedom of animals.Tickets are $10 and seating is limited. Proceeds go to a local rescue
group, WaggyTail Rescue and toward distributing the film. There will be a
7:00 and 9:00 show and a guest speaker will talk about local shelters and
NY breed specific legislation (horrific, obviously) currently on the
table. There will be a cash bar going and the movie will screen after the
speaker.

6pm // Vegan Superpotluck!
Matt and Dan will be hosting a vegan “superpotluck” at their apartment in
Williamsburg this Friday, Oct. 27th at 6pm (address and directions to be
sent to those who RSVP). What is a superpotluck? Well, it basically means that in addition to
bringing a prepared food item, guests will also bring an ingredient to be
assigned upon RSVP that will contribute to a dish we all make together.
Thus we achieve the superpotluck. Please RSVP to daniel.mims@gmail.com ASAP with the food item you plan to
bring. If anyone is new to veganism or feels at a loss for ideas, they'd
be happy to suggest something. In addition, after you RSVP, you will be
assigned an ingredient to bring for the dish (amazing vegan chili) that we
will all have lots of fun preparing together in their friendly kitchen.
