Alpha Sigma Tau is involved in a number of philanthropic projects throughout the year. In addition to our national and chapter philanthropy, we also hold a number of events throughout the year. Below is a short summary of the events that we hold:
Ribbon Sales Throughout the course of the year we sell ribbons to fundraise for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
New York Cares Day During this event, we are assigned a school in either Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens. It’s a fun filled Saturday full of bonding with sisters while cleaning up a public school and painting murals for the kids to see come Monday.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer We enjoyed a 5 mile stroll through Central Park to support the American Cancer Society and their pursuit to battle cancer.
Race for the Cure Another fun event taking place in Central Park, only this time it was a 3.1 mile walk or run race to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Halloween in the Park We helped paint faces and played with children dressed up for Halloween in Washington Square Park.
Meals on Heals Every Saturday, the women of the organization would walk through the residential areas around Washington Square Park to delivery groceries to the elderly.
Spring Fling Spring Fling is a carnival type of event, with a moonbounce, food, games and music. All the profits of this event are donated to breast cancer research.
Relay for Life This is an all night event, where our sisters can have some fun while raising money and support for cancer research. Each year it takes place at Coles, and for the past few years we have won an award for the banners we made for the banner competition!
