1564 Broadway
The Palace opened in 1913 and became the most famous vaudeville house in the city.
In 1932 it showed films, and by 1952 the theater was revamped, refurbished and re-opened with a stunning performance by Judy Garland.
Originally scheduled for only four weeks, the show went on to play for nineteen sold out weeks.
Again it was restored in 1965, by the Nederlander Family, who presented Gwen Verdon in Sweet Charity for the theater's reopening.
Patrons tell of its huge interior and how it feels like a vaudeville theater, big, with elevated seating in the side orchestra and a mezzanine that travels up to the sky.
Past Productions include: Applause and Woman of the Year with Lauren Bacall, and La Cage Aux Folles.
Current production is Aida.
