250 West 52nd Street
This venue was built as a musical-comedy house for producers Alex Arrons and Vinton Freedly.
The original name of the theatre house, "Alvin", came from combining both of their first names.
When it was first built in 1927, Fred and Adele Astaire performed Funny Face at the theatre.
But during the 30's and 40's, because of the depression, the house was used as a radio studio and then for legal productions.
The Shubert Organization purchased it in 1975 and now the house is part of the Nederlander Organization.
In 1983, the theatre was named after America's most famous playwright -- Neil Simon.
The theatre has a black marble lobby and can accommodate an orchestra of 48 musicians.
The theatre seats over 1300 people.
Past productions include: Girl Crazy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Swan Lake
Current production is The Music Man.
