222 West 45th Street
This theater opened in 1913, and was built with few seats to renounce the trend toward large capacity theaters,
which are good economically but bad for staging anything but flamboyant /violent/epic style plays.
Its shared facade was designed together with the Shubert Theater and forms the famous Shubert Alley.
Designed by the Shubert Organization, the theater was named after the famous actor, Edwin Booth.
Quite small, this intimate theater only houses 781 seats and provides good views and great orchestra seats.
Past Productions include: Seventeen, You Can't Take it with You, Come Back Little Sheeba, Butterflies are Free, and Once on this Island.
Current production is The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe.
