Enough about Claire and Leo.  Get over it.  They were far from being the first pair of star-crossed lovers and certainly weren't the last.  Romeo and Juliet  was a masterpiece long before Fox produced it in 1996.  Actually, in case you didn't know, the play was first published as a poem in 1562, and it wasn't William Shakespeare who wrote it.  In fact, the Romeo and Juliet  that William Shakespeare wrote in 1596 was based on a piece titled Romeus and Juliet and was originally written by Arthur Brooke.  It was Brooke's Romeus and Juliet  that inspired Shakepeare to write what would later come to be known as one of history's greatest tales of true love.

This site will take you through the forgotten, or rather overlooked, elements of Romeo and Juliet, as well as the more obvious stuff.
