Stephen Sondheim began his career as a lyricist with West Side Story, Gypsy, and Do I Hear a Waltz? He is the president of the Dramatists Guild, which is the national association of playwrights, composers, and lyricists. He has won Tony Awards for his musicals Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, and Sweeny Todd. He was honored in 2002 at Kennedy Center. He has also written Anyone Can Whistle, The Frogs, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Evening Primrose. His newest musical, Bounce, opens this month in Chicago.
