During his major league career with the Tigers, Dodgers, and Padres, Billy Bean was held in high esteem by his teammates and managers, both as an athlete and as a man. Bean came out in August of 1999. He has since retired from Major League Baseball. This year, Bean's book Going the Other Way was published.
