01) WebSphere Portal - Express for Multiplatforms V5.0 - Before You Begin (C52F6IE.pdf)

Provides an overview of what you need and helps you get started. Because every portal deployment is unique, this book enables you to evaluate your environment and requirements and to determine the role portal will play. Follow the steps in the book before beginning the installation. 

03) WebSphere Portal - Express - Portal Install, Portal Toolkit, Portal InfoCenter (Setup) V5.0 for Windows and Linux (C52F8ML.zip) 

Provides the following: 

Portal Install. 
Portal Toolkit - tools to customize and manage the enterprise portal and to create, test, debug, and deploy individual portlets and Web content, and sample portlets that demonstrate best programming practices. 
Portal InfoCenter - a guide book that includes information for learning about this version; planning your environment; migrating; installing and configuring; administering your portal; securing your portal; and managing documents, portlets, and additional resources. 

Installation Instructions:

Download C52F8ML.zip to a temporary directory. 
Change to that directory. 
Type unzip C52F8ML.zip and press Enter to uncompress the file. 
Before beginning the installation, refer to InfoCenter\en\InfoCenter\index.html. 

Select from the following: 

Microsoft Windows 
Run install.bat to begin the installation. When the installation managers prompts for a particular product, browse the directory where the product files are downloaded and extracted. (For example: When the installation manager prompts for CD # 1-1, browse the directory where waspe504 extracted.)

Linux 
Run ./install.sh to begin the installation. When the installation manager prompts for a particular product, browse to the directory where the product files are downloaded and extracted. (For example: When the installation manager prompts for CD # 1-2, browse the directory where waspe505 extracted).

07) IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Fix Pack 1 for Windows and Linux (1-4) (C52FCML.zip)

Contains several platform-specific fix packs that are each referred to as Fix Pack 1 for their respective product and platform. The readme_was50_fp1.html document describes prerequisites, space requirements, download instructions, and where to find detailed installation instructions and more information. 

08) WebSphere Portal - Express - Portal Server V5.0 for Windows and Linux (2) (C52FDML.zip)

Provides an open and extensible framework on which to build and deploy a portal. You can create many types of portals, including those that support the business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and business-to-employee models capable of being accessed by multiple types of devices, such as a Web browser on a personal computer or on a mobile phone with a browser that subscribes to a wireless Internet service.
