TERM PROJECTS

1. Choose a topic for which you will develop multimedia materials to be used with an authoring program, collect and digitize the materials to be used in the project. This project should be viewed as preparing materials which will be used on the computer to assist in learning specific materials and/or developing appreciation. It will be necessary for you to define the teaching context for which you will be developing the materials in terms of the class level and background.

2. Develop a personal website which links different music education sites, and which introduces your interests in music education. You may also utilize materials developed for your authoring project for publication on the web.

EVALUATION

Students will be evaluated on class participation in discussion, presentation, requested e-mail assignments and the authoring and WWW projects

ASSIGNED READINGS & EVALUATIONS

  1. Play and Evaluate CDROM materials: Strauss and Mozart (in class box)
  2. Select Three URLs featuring Music Education and describe the website
  3. Digital Chisel Manual: Introduction and Tutorial
  4. An Introduction to HTML (Printed from Netscape Homepage)
  5. Composing Good HTML (printed from Netscape Homepage)
  6. Play and evaluate "Practica Musica "

Create four libraries for your authoring project: (1) Graphics (2) Text (3) Sound and (4) Movies. Throughout the terms digitize the materials for these libraries.

All assignments and written responses are to be done through e-mail. You are required to respond to class assignments on a weekly basis. You should plan to check your e-mail at least twice a week.
