This picture was manipulated in Adobe Photoshop. Originally taken in balack and white, and titled "The Hope," I chose to add a combonation of symbolic colors to represent my thoughts when seeing this photograph. The blue and white symbolize the colors of the Jewish Flag, as well as the prison uniforms worn in the concentration camps.
The yellow represents the Star of David, worn by all of Jews throughout Europe from the years 1935 to 1945. The red symolizes the blood spilled and the anger felt within each survivor. The Holocaust must never be forgotten.
This photograph, taken in 1945, depicts the strength of the Jewish people. After having withstood the horrors of the Holocaust, and the death of six million of their people, they did not give up hope, and their belief in a future Jewish Homeland was only a few years off.
