Federal Service Programs have been making a difference in the NYU community for over a decade. NYU’s Office of Civic Engagement is proud to host of one of the largest America Read/America Counts programs in the country, employing over 1,000 tutors each year who serve in 108 New York City schools.
NYU’s Public Service Corps provides student internship opportunities in over 30 New York City government offices.
NYU Jumpstart, a program of AmeriCorps, launched in September of 2006. Fifty NYU students work in teams of ten to help ensure academic success at local early education nonprofit locations.
All students working in these programs are paid through their Federal Work Study financial aid allotments. In total these initiatives represent over two million dollars in support services to New York City.
