The Office of Civic Engagement administers an ongoing food drive called Campus Harvest. Each School and Division adopts a month during the year to run individual food drives, December is the University-Wide Campus Harvest month. Campus Harvest has donated over fifty tons of food to City Harvest over the past eight years. To find out more about City Harvest visit their web-site at www.cityharvest.org.

Starting Your Own Campus Harvest / Food Drive

Students, staff and faculty are invited to coordinate your own mini-drive within your club, group, office or division! Once all of the donations have been dropped off to a central place designated by you, we will be happy to arrange for a pick-up through City Harvest. Those interested in setting up their own mini-drive can contact The Office of Civic Engagement at (212) 998-2329 for more information, marketing tools and helpful hints.

Mini-Drive Check List

  • Circulate and post Campus Harvest posters and fliers in your office, department, division, or residence hall. This will inform people how and where to bring food donations.
  • E-mail, stuff mailboxes, and spread the word at your regular meetings about your mini drive.
  • Call the Office of Civic Engagement if you need additional posters, fliers, brochures, information on City Harvest, statistics on hunger and homelessness, or information on requests for specific types of food. Also, please let us know if you would like a yellow Campus Harvest drop-off bin stored in your area.
  • Determine a specific centralized place in your office or residence hall for donors to drop off donations. Please select a collection site that is highly visible and in a secure area.
  • Call 998-2329 to arrange a convenient time for a pick-up of all the donations from your mini drive.
