Blackboard 8: Checking the Student Roster

A Blackboard course site must be requested for a course at the start of each semester. Requests for courses are completed via the Course Request Form (http://www.nyu.edu/its/blackboard/request/). For help using this form, click on the Need Help using this Form? link in the top right hand corner of any page of the form.

Once a Blackboard course site has been requested, the student enrollments will be activated for that course. Student enrollments at NYU are processed every 4 hours, i.e., 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm. Depending on the time of day you request your course site, students will appear in your Blackboard course site.

You can view these enrollments in your Blackboard course site:

Go to the control panel of your course site and click on the List/Modify Users link in the User Management area.
	To search for a specific student or user in your course, type in their Last Name, Username, or Email and click on the Search button.
Alternatively, to see a full list of all users (including students, instructors, TAs, etc.) currently enrolled in your course site, leave the textbox empty and click the Search button.
A list of all users, their Username (NetID), email address, and role in the course will be displayed.

Tip: Student enrollments (add/drops) are handled automatically in Blackboard. To add additional users such as other instructors, a Teaching Assistant or an auditing student, you can use the Add Users by Role tool in your Control Panel. Please see our tutorial on this topic for specific steps.

List All Users

Another useful tool in your Control Panel is List All Users.

This list shows all users currently enrolled in the course - any listed in red will not be able to access it. This may be because they currently cannot log in as their account has been disabled, or because they have been made unavailable in this course by an Instructor, or because they have been blocked from it by the automatic Snapshot feed. If you have any queries, please contact your System Administrator.

You can use this tool to change the availability or role of users in this course.
