

On March 3, 2008, the CCPR LaSER Symposium convened university leaders, researchers, and applied users from industry, business, government, and the first responder community to demonstrate how multidisciplinary collaboration at New York University has produced a robust model to assist in planning for diverse catastrophic health emergencies. The objectives of the LaSER Symposium were threefold:
About LaSER
The Large Scale Emergency Readiness (LaSER) project is a research effort to improve the capabilities of federal, state, and local
governments, as well as private organizations, to prepare for and respond to catastrophic health emergencies.
LaSER is composed of five inter-related projects, which creates a range of tools and new knowledge that
support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s mission to mitigate against, respond to and recover from
hazards and threats to the nation.
The five projects are:
LaSER draws on faculty and staff from NYU's School of Medicine, College of Dentistry and Nursing, the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, the Silver School of Social Work, and the Courant Institute of Mathematics.
