Your Degree
Degrees are awarded by the University three times each year -- January, May and September.
Academic Standing & Honors
Each student must be in good academic standing in order to graduate. This
means achieving a minimum cumulative and major grade point average of 2.0
as well
as satisfactory completion of the general degree and major requirements.
Latin honors
are awarded by the University Registrar to a percentage of the graduating class.
Department honors are presented by your major department faculty. Special
requirements set by a department must be satisfied. You must apply to your major department for honors.
Phi Beta Kappa is a national honorary society. Students are elected by members of the NYU Chapter. You will be notified by late April if elected.
Founders Day Awards are mailed to degree recipients and May degree
candidates who have met the eligibility
requirements set by the University. A certificate and a distinctive
gold tassel is sent to
each recipient. This tassle is worn in place of the standard tassel
to the CAS Baccalaureate and NYU Commencement ceremonies.
Additional College and Departmental awards are presented at Dean's Award
Night and the Baccalaureate
Ceremony.
