Welcome
In order to apply to medical schools, students must take specific courses which must be completed in a relatively set order. Consequently, our program is quite structured. The length of the program varies from student to student, but most postbaccalaureate students take classes part-time, registering for two courses per semester and taking 15 months to two years to complete their coursework.
It might be possible to complete the coursework in less than two years if you plan on going to summer school or if you can go full-time. (Taking three sciences together is against advisement, however.) You may not continue as a postbacc student for more than three years. Students who enter the program have quite varied backgrounds and talents, and we tailor the program to meet each student's individual needs. These needs can change from semester to semester, particularly as we get to know you better, and for this reason, your progress is evaluated each semester and modifications may be suggested based on your progress.
Semester to semester, students are encouraged to meet with an adviser in the Preprofessional Advising Center to discuss their progress and their goals.
