This part of our website has been prepared to help resolve various prehealth concerns and to help make your postbaccalaureate experience most rewarding. While it would be impossible to address every issue facing you, consider this an invitation to contact us if you have any questions or concerns related to your academic future or personal life as a postbaccalaureate student in the College of Arts & Science.
The semesters you spend in our postbaccalaureate program are a time to explore the sciences, to perfect your study skills and learning ability, and to demonstrate your expertise in the prehealth sciences. Medical schools base their admissions decisions on a variety of factors. Important among these are your Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) score as well as your science and overall grade point averages. Beyond the "numbers," however, admissions officers attempt to create a diverse student body composed of interesting individuals. You can distinguish yourself by gaining exposure to the healthcare field, participating in extracurricular and community activities, and by getting to know the faculty with whom you are studying and who will evaluate you each semester. When you are ready to begin the application process, you will find information about the MCAT, as well as the American Medical College Application Service, at www.aamc.org.
Your status in the College of Arts and Science will officially be that of a special student in a certificate program at NYU. This means that you have practically all the privileges of any other part- or full-time degree students, including the following:
- Bobst Library and Study Center, 70 Washington Square South, (212) 998-2520
