Chemistry Chemistry is the study of the properties of matter and the reactions that transform one substance into another. It is the central natural science interfacing physics and mathematics with the life sciences. A knowledge of chemistry has always been fundamental to the investigation of the physical world, as well as to an in-depth understanding of livingsystems. Subjects within chemistry range from chemical physics to molecularbiology, and include the traditional divisions of analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry.
