Fellowship Resources

"Fellowship" is a broad term that encompasses research, teaching or service opportunities. Fellowships can be awarded to students already enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program as well as to those who have graduated. They are typically 1-2 years in length and often offer recipients a stipend or scholarship.

Tips for Finding Fellowships

  • Review the information and resources provided via the NYU Office for National Scholarships. Here you can join the listserv for updates (see bottom right of page).
  • Utilize fellowship-specific search engines (see below)
  • Search traditional job/internship databases, using the keyword "fellowships". Indeed.com, SimplyHired.com and Idealist.org are great places to start.
  • Look for non-profit organizations, government agencies, professional associations, cultural organizations, and research institutes that are aligned with your area of interest.
  • Connect with faculty members, especially if you are interested in research. Some academic departments may also have a staff member that specializes in national fellowship applications.
  • Identify and network with current and past fellows who have pursued a fellowship in your field of interest. Ask them for tips and resources.
