Employer Services
The Wasserman Center for Career Development (the Center) is
a comprehensive career center that offers students and alumni award-winning
services that are essential for competing in today's job market. The Center
maintains information on the latest resources, techniques and strategies designed
to address a wide variety of career management issues. Our mission is to "facilitate
the career development of NYU students and alumni in a supportive and innovative
environment. We are committed to providing quality programs and resources that
empower individuals and connect the NYU community with diverse learning experiences
and career opportunities." In addition, our goal is to provide employers
with responsive services to meet individual recruiting needs and to make the
task of identifying and interviewing qualified candidates simple and easy.
Our team of dedicated and committed professionals provide career advisement
on a variety of issues, challenges and options. The services available include
individual counseling, as well as seminars on a broad range of topics such as
job search strategies, career choices, resume preparation, interviewing techniques,
and special career-related programs. Students are also provided with detailed
information on full-time, part-time and internship job opportunities through
NYU CareerNet, a computerized employment listing service available via the world
wide web.
The Center is dedicated to helping students explore careers, learn new skills
and gain valuable work experience to complement academic training. Special internship
programs link students with organizations that offer career-related opportunities.
Employers have the opportunity to work with students who are motivated, eager
to contribute and learn first-hand about a profession.
The importance of work experience and development of skill-sets are emphasized
to students as an integral part of the career development process.
Over 85% of NYU students work 15 - 20 hours a week in career-related employment
while attending classes. They hold responsible internships and part-time jobs
in all types of organizations. NYU students' SAT scores are amongst the highest
in the nation and they maintain high academic standards in a fast-paced urban
environment. This affords employers the opportunity to interview qualified,
experienced, and well-prepared candidates for challenging careers.
