  1. I would like to apply for a loan?

    Loans are packaged through the Office of Financial Aid. Students must first file a FAFSA application in order for the Office of Financial Aid to determine an award package. Contact the Office of Financial Aid via e-mail financial.aid@nyu.edu or 212-998-4444.

  3. Can you certify (package) my loan?

    The Office of the Bursar does not certify loan eligibility. Our role is to receive the disbursement from the lender and credit the funds to your tuition account. To have a loan certified (packaged) you must contact the Office of Financial Aid via e-mail financial.aid@nyu.edu or 212-998-4444.

  5. Why was my loan reduced or cancelled?

    Loan reductions and cancellation are determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Reasons can vary from overawarded to not meeting the enrollment requirement. To determine the actual reason you will need to contact the Office of Financial Aid via e-mail financial.aid@nyu.edu or 212-998-4444.

  7. When can I expect my student loan funds to arrive?

    Upon receipt of your disbursement letter, funds should arrive at the Bursar's Office within approximately two weeks. If you need additional information concerning disbursement dates, contact your lender directly.

  9. What should I do if my certified (packaged) student loans do not display on my account?

    If your loan funds are on receipt but have not yet been credited to your account telephone the Student Loan Department of the Bursar's Office at (212) 998-2806.

  11. How do I obtain my student loan refund?

    If the receipt of your student loan results in a credit balance, a refund in your name will automatically be mailed within 10 to 14 days. Credits generated by a PLUS loan will be mailed directly to the borrower.
